Orthodontic Treatment Options

Metal Braces

Metal braces are very strong and can withstand most types of treatment. They consist of very small metal brackets (attachments) that are glued to the front of your teeth. A metal wire is attached to the brackets and held by ligatures. There is a wide range of ligatures available, ranging from transparent to silver (to match the metal braces) and to a variety of colours.

Clear braces

White braces, on the other hand, are made of ceramic, so the only metal visible is the wire between teeth. The actual brackets that adhere to your teeth are white, making them less noticeable. Ceramic braces can help the wearer feel more confident in their smile throughout treatment. They may even entice reluctant patients to get braces if they were concerned about having a mouth full of metal

Hidden Braces

What sets hidden otherwise know as lingual braces apart is in their placement on the back of the teeth. Lingual braces are virtually invisible, and that’s the main reason eligible patients choose them. This partly explains why they are more common among adults than children. One other advantage is if you play a wind instrument or a sport, lingual braces are easier to adapt to than traditional braces.

What is Specialist Orthodontics?

Orthodontics is a specialised form of dentistry that focuses on the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of dental and facial abnormalities. An orthodontist is a dental specialist who has received two to three years of additional training and experience. Like Dr Annika Patel she is able to straighten teeth, correct misaligned jaw structure, and improve the function of your smile.
