Dental Implant Journey
Stage 1 - Consultation
The initial step in your dental implant process involves a comprehensive dental and radiographic examination, along with a thorough review of your health history. During these consultation visits, Dr. Ojo will take the time to address your specific needs and concerns. This personalised approach ensures that every aspect of your dental health is considered.
In cases where additional expertise is required, Dr. Ojo may collaborate with an oral surgeon or periodontist who is referred by our practice. This multidisciplinary approach allows for a more detailed treatment plan tailored to your unique situation.
Stage 2 - Implant Procedure
With great care, the dental implants are surgically placed into your jawbone. Following this, small posts called abutments are attached to the implants. These abutments will serve as stable anchors for the artificial teeth, or crowns. Over the next few months, the implants will gradually integrate with the bone beneath the gums in a process called osseointegration. During this healing period, a temporary tooth will be fitted to ensure you have normal function and appearance until the permanent crowns are ready.
Stage 3 - Restoration stage
This final stage enhances both function and aesthetics. Once the implant has fully integrated with the jawbone, we begin creating your new teeth. We start by taking precise impressions or scans of your mouth. Then, the abutments are attached to the implants, serving as the connection points for your new teeth.
The impressions are sent to a dental laboratory, where your custom crowns are made. Once ready, these crowns are fitted over the abutments, completing the restoration and improving both your bite and appearance.
