I had studiously avoided going to a dentist for nearly 20 years and just coped with gradual deterioration of my teeth and my smile. Nothing could persuade me that overcoming the fear of the chair, the smell of the surgery and, worst of all, the pain and terror of in-mouth injections was even remotely worth it. It was easy to smile with my mouth virtually closed.
I did however know that I would need urgent dental work done at some point and I would be visiting a dentist.
Mide was bright friendly and chatty. This went over my head, I was just scared. However he was entirely non-judgmental about my teeth, my fears and my how I was not coping well with being in the chair.
We chatted about what I wanted to achieve and in general terms about the work required. I made it clear I would not cope with the in-mouth injections and he did not baulk at this but talked through the pros and cons of the general anaesthetic alternative. He explained clearly what was possible how the work would be done and, important to me, what I would actually feel at each stage. At no time did he make me feel that I was being a wimp, though I knew I was.
We agreed a schedule of work and visits. Mide showed me how my smile would look on by the end on a model. It looked good. I survived the root canal work, and it felt good afterwards. Once the anaesthetic had worn off I felt quietly proud that I had gone through it! I survived the fillings, the caps, the bridges and everything else. So now I have a smile I’m happy to show off. My partner is proud of me and my smile, and that feels good too!
Mide has been absolutely brilliant with me from day one. He has supported me through all of the work and never once made me feel that I was being a baby or criticised the 20 year gap before I saw him. At every stage he explained what was being done in as much detail as I could cope with and made me feel at ease as much as was possible. I am absolutely delighted with all the work he has done.
I am very happy to recommend Mide to anyone.
