Prevention is cure

The latest research papers show that personal oral hygiene and dental health has a direct impact on the rest of our body’s functions and systems. Many diseases such as heart conditions, cancer, and diabetes can be spotted in your mouth. Dental diseases may be the early signs of other systemic conditions.

At Refresh Dental, we take the approach of not only assessing your teeth and gums but also routinely monitoring for indicators of any disease or potential medical conditions you may have. We work closely with a team of doctors, osteopaths, and chiropractors in the local area to give you the best quality of care.

We are always pleased to welcome new patients to our practice and we would be delighted to have you join us.

At Refresh Dental we promise “to always go the extra mile to keep your smile .”New Patient Examination / The First Appointment

As a new patient or family at Refresh Dental, the first appointment we’d like to arrange for you is a New Patient Examination. This appointment will involve you completing a Medical History Form, followed by an X-ray (if necessary) , oral cancer screening, and a thorough dental examination of the health of your gums, teeth and mouth. We will also take the time to get to know you and to discuss any treatment preferences and nuances you may have.

However, where treatment is necessary we will use the latest techniques and industry approved materials. You are free to have as much or as little involvement in your treatment plan as you wish.

At Refresh Dental our white fillings are available in a wide range of shades and opacities. Our team of highly trained dental professionals are able to build up white fillings through a complex ‘layering technique’ to create perfect, yet invisible, restorations that blend into the rest of your smile. White or tooth coloured fillings provide a healthier, more natural alternative to traditional silver amalgam fillings. They also allow for a minimally invasive restoration meaning more of your natural tooth can be preserved.

White filings can be used in the front or the back of the mouth. They are the ideal, natural-looking way, to restore strength and function to damaged teeth. Our dentists can build up cracked or chipped teeth to restore each tooth to its original look and feel. The white filling material can also be used to close gaps, reshape uneven or short teeth and fill cavities caused by tooth decay. We can also replace metal or amalgam fillings.

If you have a larger filling, or perhaps a broken cusp on a tooth, we may want to consider a porcelain inlay or crown. These restorations are a simple and effective treatment. Let’s talk about what inlays and crowns are about, and whether it’s right for you!

An inlay is used similarly to a traditional filling, but looks much more genuine. An onlay is necessary for a significant reconstruction, where it extends out over one or more cusps of the tooth. Often, inlays may replace traditional fillings that failed or fell out, since they are more durable.

Advances in the strength and appearance of porcelain crowns have made them the leading choice in restoring damaged teeth to their former splendor. A tooth that has been damaged by root canal, grinding, decay or fracture is likely to break from the stress of daily use. But a porcelain crown strengthens your tooth by providing 360 degrees of coverage.
